My horse is gone?

I logged on today in my horse was gone! Yes it had a nametag and saddle. People say it despawned but I dont know if it did or if someone killed it. The same thing happened to my friends donkey.
May have been because of the mob cap on that area, not sure, if you want I can refund you, msg me when you see me online.
