My chickens despawning in underground!

I’ve build a underground tunnel and rooms, and breeded chickens there.
However, in the room (which is used as a storeroom with chests), my chickens despawn! At first I noticed that the number of chickens in the tunnels and room were decreasing, but I thought I was just imagining stuff. Then today, I just saw my chicken depsawn right in front of me!
It happened in NovaEra, a town. Please check this bug out thanks.

Chickens won’t despawn in front of your face, seems like you made it up.

Im pretty sure non hostile mobs have a cage radius of 25 blocks in any direction, so I mean if you had long tunnels that go 100 blocks then they probably despawned, your fault there we can’t help you

AnderZENZ, it’s real. I saw the chicken despawn beside my one of my chests.
And it wasn’t in a tunnel, it was in a room underground.

As Jmillz allready explained, mobs will not despawn if the area they are in meet some requirements. It’s like growing a tree other than oak, allways problems.

If the roaming area of the animal is too large (Roaming area = Space the animal can walk in. Space in this context means the room it has, not space with stars and suns.) it will despawn.

Also baby chickens drown in water.
