You live in plots in various towns, and you can build on plots. To join a town, ask in general chat if you can join a town. Someone will add you to a town. Ask if you can get a plot. Prices vary. In my town, it’s 500 dollars, other towns, it can be free.

To get money, play mob arena, using /ma j or selling farm items like melons, pumpkins, sugar cane, and cocoa beans, while holding them using /sell hand.

Other than that, play minecraft! Get you materials by either finding them in the world or buying them from shops.
